Samsung Yepp YP-P2 Touchscreen Media Player

Samsung Yepp YP-P2 Touchscreen Media Player
It would be hard to wrestle Apple fans away from the iPhone, but Samsung offers us something that would be pretty cool to those willing to try other brands. The Samsung Yepp YP-P2 features 8GB of flash memory, a 3.0 inch 428 x 240 pixel touch-screen display, Bluetooth, integrated speaker and microphone. It supports formats such as: MP3, WMV, WMA, and H.264 (MPEG4 AVC), MPEG-4 (ASF) files. It may not be enough to kill the iPhone, but it could slightly annoy it, just a bit. Check the video after the break.

Samsung SCX-300L: Makes You A Headcase

Samsung SCX-300L Wearable Camcorder

This is Samsung’s first camcorder you can mount to your head. The SC-X300L has an attachable velcro headstrap which consequently makes you a dork. It is a little difficult to strap this on at just the right angle. The end of the review predicted that the camcorder had too many buttons. It is also kinda hard to deal with the fact that the video format makes filing a big hassle. The 720X480 resolution isn’t all that great and the lack of still shots makes it worse. The asking price is $450, so that’s another minus. All in all, this camcorder is just average or below. You may as well just settle for an ordinary camcorder.

Samsung Readies Sexy Touch-screen YP-P2 DAP

Samsung has some nice DAP devices like the YP-K5, but their players are getting a bit long in the tooth. Samsung is getting a new DAP ready called the YP-P2 that is very cool looking. If you took a bit of the iPhone and a bit of the Prada phone, mixed it together and took away the phone functions, the YP-P2 is the end result from a purely aesthetic standpoint. The YP-P2 even has the beloved touch screen both those phones sport.

Not much information is known on the device at this time, but from the photos you can tell that the device will support Bluetooth, video playback and will function as a MSC device. I also see links in the navigation menu for photos and FM radio. There is also no word on pricing or availability at this time. Video demo after the jump.

2009 Hyundai Elantra Gets USB Port

When you hear the name Hyundai you don?t exactly think of high-end cars with lots of gadgets and technology inside. That?s not keeping Hyundai from giving buyers a bit more in car tech in their low price ride.

The 2009 Elantra will have a USB port for connecting PMP devices and other gear that could support Microsoft?s Blue&Me system. There is no official word on if the Microsoft system will make it into the car, but the USB port is confirmed. At worst you will be able to play your MP3?s over the cars stereo so it?s really a win/win situation. At best you might be able to sync your contacts to onboard systems and do other cool stuff with USB devices. Just being able to charge my cell phone without needing a DC cord would be good news to me.

Build Your Own USB Lamp and Fan From CDs

We have talked about numerous USB powered desk gadgets in the past, but if you are like me you probably can?t bring yourself to spend hard earned cash for such junk. A guy has put a couple videos up over at 5min showing industrious types how to build a couple reasonably cool USB gadgets.

You can watch the video how-to for building your own USB powered lamp and the video how-to for building your own USB fan. The USB lamp looks harmless enough, but the fan concerns me a bit. It is made using cut sections of a CD for the fan blades. I would hate to trust super glue to hold whirling shards of plastic close to my face. One bad bit of gluing and you could lose an eye. Video after the jump.

With This Click I Thee Wed

This may be the first couple to have been married in the virtual world, as well as in the real world. This took place two weeks ago at Fan Faire. Check out the video.

"Players of the online game EverQuest® II shared their love for gaming and each other, as Sony Online Entertainment hosted a simultaneous Live and In-Game Wedding ceremony at the 2007 SOE Fan Faire (held in Las Vegas, Nevada, August 2nd-4th). During the ceremony, the couple exchanged vows in front of an audience of more than 1,600 fellow gamers, then 46 year-old Kelly Kane Davalos and 31 year-old Nathan Davalos sealed the deal through their EverQuest II avatars at computers perched on the altar."

Sunrise serenades you into action

sunrise-serenadeWaking up in the mornings can be quite a chore, especially for those who are not morning people. What makes this act even harder is the incessant din that an alarm clock blares, rudely jolting you awake. What if there was a clock that goes back to nature by gently nudging you out of bed? The Sunrise Serenade is yet another simulated sunrise clock in the market, but at least there were attempts to make it look like the star in our solar system by coming in a translucent orb that looks as though the sun is slowly but surely rising above the horizon.

Of course, if you have that all important job interview, I strongly suggest you stick to the standard "rude awakening" alarm clock - after all, there are times where you simply cover your eyes with a pillow to continue your slumber despite having Mr. Sunshine flood the entire room. That normally happens after a rough night out at a local watering hole. Still, for those who are interested in the Sunrise Serenade alarm clock can pick it up for a rather hefty $150.

Cooking Mama 2 on her way

cooking-mama-dinner-w-friendsI have the first installment of Cooking Mama for the Nintendo DS Lite, and I must say that title got me hooked for a fair amount of time (at least until I picked up Final Fantasy III but that's another story for another day). It was pretty interesting slicing up vegetables, peeling hot potatoes, stirring a soup while adjusting the flames below, but after going through recipe after recipe, I found that the entire experience got a little old. I have not yet unlocked all the recipes contained in that game but I had better before Cooking Mama 2: Dinner with Friends arrive in retail stores.

Needless to say, Cooking Mama 2: Dinner with Friends feature the same gameplay and offers mostly similar graphics, but the inclusion of 80 new recipes and 150 different cooking procedures (!) will definitely appeal to casual gamers worldwide. Not only that, you can have single card multiplayer - something the first installment lacked, and the ability to decorate your kitchen according to the way you want it as well as giving Mama a brand new set of clothes. This title shouldn't retail for more than $29.90 when released.

Sony-Ericsson K770i takes the Money Shot

Sony-Ericsson K770i Cyber-shot Camera Phone
We here at TechFresh don’t usually get this impressed by a cell phone. The Sony-Ericsson K770i Cyber-shot camera phone did grab our attention though. It’s a phone that comes equipped with 3.2-megapixel and it measures only 14.5mm in thickness. It also comes ready with Sony Cyber-shot software which allows you to edit photos. It also allows you to shoot video as well as offering video download and streaming via 3G. If that wasn’t enough, it plays FM radio and supports Memory Stick Micro cards, comes with a 256MB card and 16MB of internal memory, USB 2.0 and Bluetooth. But here’s the real kicker… you all know how hard we work here at TechFresh, but this phone might make our lives a bit easier with its blogging software which allows you to upload photos right to your blog. Combine that with the XHTML browser and we can report the news just about anywhere in the world. Just picture us on a beach in Bali sipping a cocktail and reporting tech to you? If you can’t, we sure will. :-D

Kensington Ci70 Wireless Desktop Set Review

Not content with killing the CRT, desk real estate fanatics are now shifting their focus to the second largest blight on their tables - the keyboard. Apparently scissor keys and a 2" shorter footprint is all the rage these days. Okay, so micro keyboards with laptop scissor keys are nothing new, but Kensington's latest offering to this implacable crowd might just turn some heads. That is, if you think a wireless cross platform keyboard with multimedia keys and an ultra-thin dockable mouse, sans drivers is a step in the right direction. Oh, you do too? Read on for the full review.

Hot Hardware Reviews the Corsair Flash Padlock

We talked about the Corsair Flash Padlock USB drive a while back here on Everything USB. The keypad allows users to physically protect the data on the drive from being read, and even keep the drive from being seen by Windows without the correct password.

The guys at Hot Hardware have a review up of the Flash Padlock. They found that the Padlock is much larger than most every other flash drive around. They also give the manual good marks for its walkthroughs and instructions. The only real drawbacks they give for the Padlock is that the drive is large, has smaller storage capacities and the data transfer rate could be faster. I guess you have to make some sacrifices for security.

Ofcom Changes UK Regulations to Allow for Wireless USB

Ofcom has changed it?s regulations to allow for short-range wireless technology like ultra-wideband (UWB) that will usher in wireless USB so we can all cut those cables that get in our way. UWB will allow for data transmission of up to 3 Gbps over 30m of distance.

Ofcom is set to introduce its Wireless Telegraphy (Ultra-Wideband Equipment) exemption Regulations 2007 on August 13. Ofcom also goes on to say that research has show UWB to require less power than WiFi, which leads to longer battery life on notebook computers using UWB tech. This new exemption will allow peripheral makers to start selling Certified Wireless USB devices like the Belkin 4-port WUSB hub in the UK, and will allow UWB devices in the UK to be used legally without a license just as the same types of devices are allowed to here in the U.S. and in Japan.

Epson's Sweet Looking Stylus CX9400 Fax All-in-One

If you buy your electronics based more on their looks, the Epson Stylus CX9400 Fax All-in-One is way cool looking. I much prefer the back color scheme to the silver or white we normally see on printers like the Kodak's. One of the best features of this new AIO printer will be the price, at $149 I know of no other AIO printers that have a fax built in close to that price.

Epson claims that the CX9400Fax can print a 4x6 photo in 26 seconds and the printer uses the DuraBrite inks. It prints documents at up to 32 ppm. Other features include a memory card reader and reformulated inks that are smudge-resistant on any paper. Another new printer is the Stylus C120 with print speeds of up to 37 ppm in draft mode and the CX7400 at only $70 with a built-in memory card reader.

Roman Kriheli's bendy cellphone concept!

bendy phone

Designer ?Roman Kriheli? is ready to amaze you with his breathtaking conceptual phenomenon ? a soft bendable mobile phone. Similar to a bendable keyboard, this conceptual phone is yet another advancement in the field of ?mobile communications?. This marvel is fabricated out of bendable polymer which is infact sandwiched between its outer shell and the integrated microchip circuitry. Its unbeatable flexibility gives you the liberty to use it as the way you want.

It has a bright 2.75-inches diagonal display that gives you 433 × 266 pixels of clarity. The embedded keys and the flat display gives a paper like feel to this conceptual thing. The electronic ink used for this technology can be located through electrical signals ? in scientific terms its called the principle of ?electrowetting?. In order to reap maximum revenues its designers, Robert Hayes and Johan Feenstra, may soon get this technology patented.
