So you've got a spanking new iPhone, and surprise, surprise, it looks pretty ordinary instead of exclusive whenever you bring it out of your handbag to attend to a call due to the gangbusters sales that Apple experienced during the iPhone's initial release at the end of June. How then, do you separate your beloved iPhone from the rest of the masses to make it more unique? Go against the grain with the wide range of iPhone skins from DecalGirl. These offerings will ensure that you will only be part of an elite group since not many people would bother to go the extra mile by skinning up their iPhone.
High resolution graphics and images are printed on quality vinyl adhesive that is not only easy to reposition, it doesn't leave a sticky residue behind that reduces the resale value of your iPhone. For those who have a hard time making a decision in everyday circumstances, they're bound to suffer from a brain-freeze moment since there are tons of styles available. All it takes is just $7 to pick up one of these skins, along with a code that provides you with a matching wallpaper download for free to keep everything uniform.

I would call this a convenient retrogression. There is hardly any doubt that Blu-ray and HD-DVD drives are still low on the priority lists of buyers. Perhaps, due to the limited knowledge they have about these drives. And, in such a scenario, Sony doesn’t want to take chances. It reflects in the latest release of its conventional CD/DVD burners – the S70 and the 840 series.
The multi-format disc drives feature a distinct variety of slim, external drives and internal models that offer the best of both worlds. The DRX-S70U is slim and sleek and offers burn speeds as follows:
- 8X DVD+/-R
- 4X DVD+/-R DL
- 8X DVD+RW
- 6X DVD-RW
- 24X CD-R/RW
The 840 series – DRU-840A and DRX-840U offer the same burn speeds as shown below:
- 20X DVD+/-R
- 12X DVD+/-R DL
- 12X DVD+RW
- 6X DVD-RW
- 48X CD-R
- 32X CD-RW
However, the difference between the two is that the former is internal while the latter is external. Additionally, the DRU-840A is an ATAPI (EIDE) drive. On the other hand, the DRX-840U can be connected via USB 2.0 (or USB 1.1, with slower write speeds) to offer the ultimate portability.
The drives are incorporated with Nero 7 Express.
With the variety, Sony looks to cater to the laptop market and the PC market at the same time. The drives will be available from September. The pricing of DRX-840U & DRX-S70U is $110 and $130 respectively, while the DRU-840A is currently on the stands for $70.

There are all sorts of USB drive styles out there to choose from like the Ducati drive from SanDisk that have a vehicular theme. A company called dummberry is producing some hand made car themed flash drives now as well. You can get a 1959 Bonneville called the Muscle HOTTRod, a 1962 T-bird called the LowRider CLASSIC, and a 1970 Dodge Challenger called the Blazin Green Machine. Two options are available for the storage capacity, 256MB or 1GB with prices of $17 or $30. Since these are hand made, I am betting they are using cars that were meant to be kid?s toys and cramming the flash hardware inside. These drives look a lot like some toy cars called Phat Rides that my son collects. Permanent Link

The hottest news around the corner reveals that Apple?s iPhone is again encircled in a tight spot and this time the company is prosecuted by a Florida-based company over patent used in its touchscreen display.
The complaint was filed in a federal court of Tyler, Texas which claims that Apple was informed earlier that the iPhone violate on a patent issued in 2004 by SP technologies LLC.
The patent defines a ?method and medium for computer readable keyboard display incapable of user termination? and as Apple didn?t gave any heed to the earlier warning, it now has to pay the ?reasonable royalties? for each iPhone sold. Moreover, Apple also has to stop using this intellectual patent in their mobile devices.
Now, if Apple is found culpable of “willful and deliberate” patent breach, he has to pay disciplinary damages equal to three times the monetary loss that the petitioner suffered. It is worth mentioning that since years, Apple has filed dozens of patents related to its iPhone embedded touch-screen and gesture technology.

Now that we all learned of the new glossy iMac, Apple also released a ultra-slim keyboard to go with the revamped all-in-one. The all new anodized aluminum enclosure is just 0.33" thin at its front edge. The keys are not curved like they used to before; in fact, the general consensus is that Apple might have taken a page from MacBook's keyboard design, which avoids dust clogging the gap. The eject, volume and mute are relocated to share with the function keys, and Apple finally added dedicated controls for media, screen brightness and expose. A USB port is found at each end of the tilted base providing Hi-Speed USB expansion for stuff like iPod, Mighty Mouse and etc. Desktop Macs will all come from this wired keyboard from now on. You can also drop $49 to upgrade. For those who like to free themselves from cable clutter, there's a wireless numpad-less version in Bluetooth for $79, but number crunching folks have to shell out for a discrete number pad. A new company called Buffalo Kokuyo Co., LTD is launching USB finger mouse as their first product. From what I can tell from the webpage showing the mouse off, the first 1000 people who register for the new magazine will be able to buy the finger mouse. There are no real specifications for the finger mouse listed, but from the photos on the site you can tell the mouse will be available in black, blue, green, white, silver, red and yellow. The mouse connects via USB and has a scroll wheel built-in as well. There is a small note at the bottom of the page that says only Japanese OS? support the mouse. The finger mouse isn?t listed on the company?s website, so I?m not sure if the mouse is simply a give away item or if it will be a real product Japanese geeks can buy. Permanent Link

Lenovo has just announced that the company will soon start selling its new laptops to businesses and other consumers with pre-installed Linux, which is emerging fast as a successful substitute to Microsoft Windows.
The laptops are ready and will hit our shelves sometimes at the end of this year. Early this year Dell too dropped Linux-powered laptops based on customer suggestions for new products, whose results revealed high Linux PC demands.
Linux was first introduced to the public approximately 16 years ago and was developed by Linus Torvalds who aimed to build a non-commercial substitute for an operating system used in many universities. Primarily, Linux is used to power web servers, the time when its growth on desktop computers was confined as per technology specialists, but its practice by brand names like Lenovo and Dell widened its growth and future prospects.
According to analysts, around 6% of computers users run Linux that is comparatively similar to consumers choosing Apple Macs.

It is time for the Blackberry Pearl to scurry for cover. A smaller, meaner Palm Treo 800p is on its way. Apparently, the rumors of the phone?s launch have been doing the rounds for over 15 months now. However, this is the first time we have visual evidence of its existence.
The Treo 800p will run on the Palm OS and the EV-DO phone incorporates 128 MB RAM and a 3.2 MP camera. For connectivity, you have WiFi and Bluetooth 2.0. The 320×320 resolution touchscreen phone is presumed to be smaller than the 650 and the 700. For now, this is the only information we have got. Stay tuned for more.
The release and pricing are still unconfirmed, but reports suggest that it would give the Pearl a run for its money with a competitive pricing of $600. If the phone is launched any time soon, you can show other Pearl owners who the better man is. Well, the primary purpose of phones is surely changing, huh!

It has been a season of rumors, possibly because most of the gadgets are turning passé in the ever-evolving gadget world. The latest entrant to this rumor family is the N81. However, from the picture, it is really hard to tell if the report has been manufactured by a creative mind. The pic appears quite original to me. More like a sneak view of the gadget, I would say.
The N81 is one of the most-awaited gadgets from the Nokia mobile phone stables. The new-generation music phone is a veritable competitor to any of the music phones available in the market today. The N81, apparently, can play 12.5 hrs of non-stop music and boasts of an out-of-the-world 8GB internal memory, which can easily store over 1500 songs. Additionally, it also features a 2.4inch QVGA 16 million pixel color display, which offers a resolution never seen before. The phone also incorporates a 2MP camera and a VGA camera for video-call addicts. This is not all. It features the popular N-Gage gaming platform that offers nearly 4 hrs of unbelievable gaming.
We are still in the dark about the pricing and the release, which has been speculatively set at Aug 29. Well, we just hope another phone with even better features doesn?t pop-up by then. It will be a truly difficult choice to make.

Google?s phone seems to be one of the most awaited phones of this decade. Valleywag knows this for sure that Google would not develop the hardware for their baby - the Google phone! We are quite sure of this fact that their software, such as the ?Mobile Google? operating system for the same, would definitely show compatibility throughout.
After spending some hefty amounts on their phone, the report has it that Google is eyeing upon American and European cellphone operators. Anian, quoted that the researchers at Google have incorporated a Taiwanese High Tech Computer that would in fact help them develop their most awaited Linux based phone.
The report also acknowledged that Google would join hands with T-Mobile, their US partner, and France Telecom’s Orange, for shelling out their sets. Google seems destined to sign up a deal with U.S. wireless services, AT&T Inc and Verizon Wireless for carrying out the sales part.
In Europe, T-Mobile and Vodafone have incorporated the Google web search feature in their phones, and this has in fact made them quite popular in that part of the continent. However, Google might not employ their Google web search feature into this phone, as the revenues they earn online are rocketing sky high.
Mark Siegel, from AT&T threw some light on this issue ?
We talk to a lot of different companies and we’re not going to comment on our discussions with any of them.
To this Google commented that ?
We are partnering with carriers, manufacturers, and content providers around the world.
Sprint Nextel Corp. has plans to uphold a new wireless network that would very well support this web search feature. ?Google? is also consulting some industry giants like LG to make their prototype a breakthrough.
Yankee Group has taken up some serious steps to measure the industry revenue changes that would show a turnover from $US275 million to $US2.2 billion in 2010.
