Sony launched a new alpha brand for digital SLR cameras a few weeks ago, and now the first model in the range has been unveiled.he This camera will support Konica Minolta Maxxum lenses .

Sony Corp. Senior General Manager , Toru Katsumoto gave a sneak peek into Sony's new Alpha DSLR strategy in a recent interview posted on Sony's website. In the the coming year, he reported that Sony will launch a about twenty new lens models. Major news that Sony plans to be a big player in the DSLR market.

In the statement, Katsumoto confirmed that the Alpha will be available this summer, and hinted that it will be a part of a larger range of lenses and accessories. "It's not enough to offer a body and two or three lens options, which is why, starting this summer, we will launch more than 20 new lens models over the course of a year," Kasumoto states. He also notes that over 16 million compatible Minolta-mount lenses have been sold to date.
